Why Join
1. Power In Numbers
Property tax affordability and municipal governance issues are not unique to any one Ontario municipality. They exist all across the province. Community Associations and Individuals speak up on local issues. But big changes must start at the top – the provincial level. And one small voice in a vast wilderness is all too often lost in the noise. If you support the three main objectives (1 – 3) on the “About Us” page, then by becoming a PTA alliance member, you and your community association can join a growing movement for change. And with your help this movement will grow to having the voices of tens of thousands. Please contact us at info@propertytaxpayer.ca or call us at 519-716-1645 to join.
2. Nonpartisan – Fact Based
The PTA is nonpartisan. We do not take political sides. We wish to work cooperatively with the MMAH, MP’s, MPP’s, Councillors and Mayors to achieve more efficient, effective and affordable municipal government in Ontario. There is no cost to join. The PTA applies fact-based and non-partisan standards to the interpretation of municipal budgets, staff reports, council decisions, and taxpayer financial impacts. Alliance members benefit from these shared results, which can be used to establish credibility with your residents, local media, and decision-makers.
3. Maintain Full Local Control
PTA alliance members remain fully independent, setting their own local priorities, tone, and methods of engagement. The PTA shares intelligence, provides learning and delivers a means by which your voice can be amplified by joining thousands of others regarding our shared three main alliance objectives.
PTA Expectations
- Regional groups retain full independence and may conduct themselves locally as they see fit.
- We ask that local political alignment or campaigning be kept separate from PTA-aligned work.
- PTA materials should remain consistent with political neutrality, information accuracy, and professional presentation.
The PTA reserves the right to clarify misrepresentation, distance itself from conduct inconsistent with its values, or end affiliation if standards are materially breached. This is necessary to protect the integrity of the network for all participants.
